First Friday Southern Pines

The Reindeer Fun Run crew will be slinging drinks at First Friday.  Come on out for the final show of the season with Cody ChestnuTT. Universally hailed as a thrilling new figure in music for his edgy, lo-fi debut, The Headphone Masterpiece, back in 2002, Cody ChesnuTT is a soul troubadour whose frank, socially conscious ruminations on life continue to challenge popular notions of what modern s...

Santa Cam

We love that Santa Clause visits us every year!  We think he loves it too, because last year he even recorded the race from his very own Santa "Belly" Cam.  See for yourself... -Thanks to the wonderful elf who delivered this to us.  Sorry about the whole "gnome" confusion.

Reindeer spotted in Southern Pines

As many will remember, several months ago a reindeer was spotted in Pinehurst, North Carolina.  It appears that same reindeer has now made his way across town to Southern Pines.  While it could be part of a larger heard, the flashy red sneakers do most likely mean this is the same one photographed by a golfer earlier in the year. Megan’s Reindeer Fun Run Story

Starting in 2000, I got hooked on running.  I did the Chicago Marathon, a number of half marathons, and even more 5K and 10Ks.  I loved it!  Then I got into the triathlon world and pushed my body (in between getting married and having kids) to do more and more. In May 2007, about a week before the Wood Lake Triathlon, I was told I had a brain tumor.  My life stopped at age 30.  I had been marri...

Mona’s Reindeer Fun Run Story

Two years ago, 10 of my family members (siblings/cousins/children) and our aunt’s two Miniature Pinschers participated for the first time in the 5th Annual Reindeer Run.  We came from all over…Wilson, Charlotte, Dunn, Raleigh.  Two did the longer run, and the rest of had a great time enjoying the 5K, and spending time together.  Our aunt lived just across Hwy 1 on Chapin Rd.  She and my mom parked...

The Finish Line
[caption id="attachment_3171" align="alignright" width="200"] The finish line of the 4th Annual Reindeer Fun Run[/caption] We have been so touched by the stories that others have shared with us about the Reindeer Fun Run.  This past year I realize I have my own story to share as well… In the first years of the Reindeer Fun Run our volunteers were mostly family and friends —  taking registrat...

Reindeer spotted in Moore County

We just received an amazing photo from a golfer in Pinehurst, North Carolina of a reindeer a very long way from home.  Luckily the anonymous golfer had his phone handy, and thought quickly to snap this picture. [caption id="attachment_2845" align="alignnone" width="650"] A reindeer is spotted in Pinehurst, North Carolina[/caption] Apparently the animal came wandering out of the pines decked ...

Shout Out

We are thrilled that the Sandhills Race Series, born at a Reindeer Fun Run meeting in 2010, has grown to be such a success.  This year 14 races (maybe more) will be a part of  the Spring & Fall series, and we are looking to expand into an Adventure Series too!  This is just a "SHOUT OUT" to all of those who help to make the SRS so much fun to be a part of!  Without their hard work, dedicatio...

This year’s logo?

We know it is early, but believe it or not May is when we usually start sharing the Reindeer Fun Run on event calendars, creating forms, and getting the website updated.  And May is just around the corner.  But in order to do that, we have to have our logo figured out.  We have changed the logo each year, and we want to continue that tradition. We'd love to know what you think we should do to this...
