The mission of the Reindeer Fun Run is to bring the community together to have fun and raise money for the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Sandhills, Inc.. No contribution, whether time, money, services or goods is too great or too small. We hope that you will join our pursuit to care for our community.

Reindeer Fun Run

An event for all of North Carolina. The area's most popular running event keeps getting bigger, and keeps getting better! The 5k curves through the historic downtown neighborhoods of Aberdeen, NC with rolling hills and wide turns. The 10k incorporates the 5k route along with a scenic tour of Bethesda, and the Malcolm Blue Farm. Both courses finish on a sloping downhill toward downtown Aberdeen and historic Union Station.

This FUN community event is for everyone from serious runners to recreational walkers, families, and pets. Join in the holiday cheer with a run or walk and the Reindeer Fun Run After Party featuring a Kids Zone.

Christmas Parade

Town of AberdeenHoliday Parade

The Annual Christmas Parade will be held on  December 10th at 3:00 p.m. in Historic Downtown Aberdeen.  The Parade is part of Christmas in Aberdeen: A Hometown Holiday Tradition and will include floats, bands, clowns, antique cars, Beauty Queens, scouts, and Santa.

Come on out for a great time and a fun event promoting local shopping, dining, and good times.

We have a tree at the Festival of Trees again this year.  The Festival of Trees is a great cause supporting the Sandhills Children’s Center.  Make sure to visit the Carolina Hotel in Pinehurst to see all the great trees.

Fun Antlers Food and Fun 5k Winner

The fastest runners in the area, elves pushing strollers, and sleighs pulled by puppies.  They’re all coming out to the Reindeer Fun Run on Saturday, December 3.

The Reindeer Fun Run is an event for all ages and abilities and a great way to kick off the holiday season!

Southern Pines Carriage Parade

Southern Pines Christmas ParadeDecember 10 at 1pm. The Moore County Driving Club decorates their horses and carriages for Christmas and drives them through the historic district in downtown Southern Pines. Trotting along part of the initial Reindeer Fun Run Course, this parade is sure to get you into the holiday spirit!

Thanksgiving Blessing of the HoundsOne of our favorite events is coming up… On November 24th, the Blessing of the Hounds in beautiful Southern Pines Horse Country is a spectacle to cherish. Hundreds gather along Youngs Road on Thanksgiving Day morning to watch horse and hound, tailgate with friends, and join the hunters for a Thanksgiving Day blessing.

O'Donnell's Pub Presents Chili Cook Off

Chili Cook Off | Run, Ride and DrinkIf you’re looking for some fun, check out the Chili Cook Off on November 12.  The Hugs Across America Fundraiser is being presented by O’Donnell’s Pub and Cross Fit Southern Pines and benefits Wounded Warrior.  If you think culinary skills are up to it, enter your chili to win.  For information visit facebook.com/hugschili.

Our Cause: The Boys and Girls Clubs of the Sandhills

From games and athletics to drug prevention workshops, 
Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sandhills offers young people a 
range of fun and productive activities. Clubs are open each 
day after school and in the summer – when research has 
shown children to be most vulnerable to gangs, violence and
other risky behaviors.

Donations to the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Sandhills

In 2009 & 2010, every $1 of corporate sponsorship resulted in a $2 donation to the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sandhills.

The clubs

  • 220 kids per day – So. Pines
  • 120 kids per day – Aberdeen
  • 22, 000 meals served in 2009

Membership

  • 997 registered members
  • 79% of families earn under $20k
  • $5/year membership fee

The Reindeer Fun Run has donated $50,000 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sandhills & is the Club’s single largest fundraiser.
