A thank you from the Reindeer Fun Run Committee…

As the year draws to a close, we at the Reindeer Fun Run want to take the time to thank you for everything you did to make the 7th annual Reindeer Fun Run possible. Runners from all over the Sandhills and beyond say the RFR is their favorite race and comment on how organized and fun the event is, and each year the number of registrants grows. All of this would not be possible if it weren’t for you, our volunteers, who gave time, energy, and effort every step of the way. Thank you for being there from start to finish and way after the last runners finished their cool downs, you all are fantastic! Special thanks goes out to the following:

Jae Kim and the Police, Fire, and Public Works Department for the Town of Aberdeen – this crew helped get the town of Aberdeen ready for the Reindeer Fun Run and helped to ensure runner safety

Robert, Matt, and Michael of the US Air Force – they provided heavy lifting and manual labor

Autumnfest

This fall, the Sandhills Race Series has 3 featured races and 5 bonus events. After 30 years, Autumnfest will offer it’s first certified course and computerized timing on October 1, and be the first of the featured events. The Reindeer Fun Run will be the finale to the Sandhills Race Series season on December 3, and will be at the Sandhills Race series tent during Autumnfest taking registrations! So if you come out to run the Autumnfest Southern Pines course, please stop by the tent!

Firecracker Fun Run

If you’re looking for a little exercise over the 4th of July weekend, the Pinecrest Football Team will be putting on a 5k starting from John Williams Athletic Complex on July 2nd. Registration can be made at active.com. Race day registration starts at 7am at the Pinecrest Football Field House and the 5k begins at 8. Have fun – and HAPPY 4th OF JULY EVERYONE!

Southern Pines Christmas Parade

2011: The Reindeer Fun Run is on the first Saturday of each December. This year, run the 5k or 10k on December 3rd in downtown Aberdeen, and come see the Annual Christmas Parade in downtown Aberdeen on December 10th at 3:00 p.m. Two great holiday traditions!

2010: The annual Southern Pines Christmas Parade will be following the Reindeer Fun Run and After Party in the Downtown Southern Pines Park. The parade will begin at 1:30 – and it will easy to know where to be. Just look for the crowd – many of them in their new Reindeer Fun Run shirts and antlers!
