Team Green - Reindeer Fun Run

TeamGreen, Inc. is a Southern Pines, NC based 501(c)3 non-profit charity. Our mission is to raise awareness and funds for area causes, as well as those national organizations that touch our community. Every year we host the annual Reindeer Fun Run in Aberdeen, NC to support the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sandhills. Neighbors Feeding Neighbors was our latest mission to extend help to those in immediate need of meals due to the impact of COVID-19.Neighbors Feeding Neighbors was our way to help during the early stages of the COVID-19 crisis, from March thru June of 2020. NEIGHBORS FEEDING NEIGHBORS
60,000 MEALS DELIVERED & COUNTING

Neighbors Feeding Neighbors is a grass-roots effort started by Moore County citizens with the goal of distributing prepared meals to families in immediate need.

We have coupled with the Boys and Girls Club of the Sandhills to identify families in crisis. With your donations we are able to partner with area restaurants and their owners, small businesses and Sandhills Community College to order prepared family meal trays Monday – Friday. The Boys and Girls Club in Southern Pines is already a pick-up site and has been tasked by the county to work with schools to distribute the free lunch and breakfasts already provided by the county. Through discussions with community leaders and school administrators, the need to provide substantial, prepared meals was identified as critical. Funds, coupled with food donations and discounts from area businesses, are being used to purchase these meals. Each weekday we have volunteers pick up these meals and get them over to Fallon and her team at the BGC. They have a list of families who have requested delivery of free Moore County School lunch/breakfast. We are able to send meals to those families as well as provide meals for families who take advantage of the drive-thru pick-up program at the club. As of April 23rd we have provided 30,000 meals–and are now pacing 6,000 meals a week! And shout out to Fiona McKenzie at Sandhills Community College who has prepared thousands of meals as well!

We need your help to keep this program running. We have the short-term goal of providing 300 Family Meals (think – family of 4, so 1200 individual meals) daily. The need far exceeds this, but it is a workable number for now. Local restaurants such as Sly Fox, Elliotts on Linden, Golden Corral, Cracker Barrel, Chick-fil-a and area McDonald’s have already donated to our efforts. More on tap moving forward. Companies are also stepping up – Cheerful Squirrel, Meridian 0, and Veterans Guardian have made generous donations.

We recognize that the need is great and our community has so many families that are food insecure. Together with your contributions we can get thousands of meals out – reminding our neighbors in need that we see them. We are all about Neighbors Feeding Neighbors.

Moving forward we will continue our partnership with the Boys and Girls Club and take our lead from them. I’ve been told that there will never be to many meals!
