Two years ago, 10 of my family members (siblings/cousins/children) and our aunt’s two Miniature Pinschers participated for the first time in the 5th Annual Reindeer Run. We came from all over…Wilson, Charlotte, Dunn, Raleigh. Two did the longer run, and the rest of had a great time enjoying the 5K, and spending time together. Our aunt lived just across Hwy 1 on Chapin Rd. She and my mom parked along the route to cheer us on. Afterwards, we all went to my aunt’s house for fellowship and a hot dog lunch. My aunt loved her family dearly, and was so happy to have everyone there with her. Last year, everyone else had other plans, but I still participated in the 5K, then went to visit my aunt and enjoyed a hot dog again with her for lunch. After a year-long battle with cancer, my aunt entered her heavenly home in July of this year. I still plan to do the Reindeer Run, in memory of her. She loved children, and this event helps children. I am sad not to be able to have a hot dog with her afterwards, but I know she’ll be there in spirit. The Reindeer Run is such a great family event!
